A roots reggae journey through awareness, resilience, and warm analog soul. Unblessed, the debut solo album by Italian reggae artist Mikelino Rutz, doesn’t aim to sugarcoat reality — it seeks to reflect it. Across ten original tracks, the Salento-based singer, composer, and producer delivers a conscious, roots-driven work that explores personal transformation and collective awareness, all without losing the uplifting essence that reggae carries at its core. From the first track to the last, Rutz’s raspy, unmistakable voice becomes a vehicle for lyrics that speak of social issues, inner change, and the human need for meaning. The album is entirely produced by Filomuzik, a long-time collaborator of Rutz’s, and the mix and mastering were handled by Gabriele Loria at Rupa… Continue reading UNBLESSED – Mikelino Rutz new album

ShakaRoot – The Extended Mixes EP
The Extended mixes is ShakaRoot‘s personal homage to the tradition of extended mixes on 12-inch vinyl to legendary Reggae music artists Peter Tosh, Bob Marley and Burning Spear. This particular form of musical expression consists of diving inside the tracks, revolutionizing their structure, enhancing the presence of each instrument, and giving them a new look, making each track’s version unique. To sublimate the concept chosen for ‘The Extended mixes’, ShakaRoot collaborated with some of the best masters of Dub mix techniques in Italy and Europe: Paolo Baldini DubFiles, Buriman (Moa Anbessa) and King Kietu. Special guests on the ep by the artist originally from the beautiful island of Sardinia, we also find Uk toaster Brother Culture, Italian producer Filomuzik,… Continue reading ShakaRoot – The Extended Mixes EP

Jamaica’s gift to the world turns 50
“Reggae is the heartbeat of Jamaica, a unique music that springs from the creative imagination of a diverse people.” This quotation is taken from the official proclamation by the government of Jamaica in 2007 declaring February as “Reggae Month” to pay special tribute to the musical art form for which the country has become renowned the world over. These words remain true today as Reggae continues to capture the world’s attention, especially among avid music lovers.
