“That was my first sound-system dance,” Mareebo recalls over rum cocktails and reggae at the faux-tropical LuWOW Tiki Bar in Little Collins Street.
“I felt that sound system culture wasn’t being recognised, particularly in Melbourne, so I thought I needed to build one. Because this culture that I’m passionate about needs a sound system to represent it.”
